From the January 30, 2013 Google no longer allows new models of iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or other devices to be configured with Google Sync, which has excellent implementation of Microsoft ActiveSync protocol.
Other configurations existing Google Sync will still work, but the next time you want to add a Gmail account to a device you have to use something else: the eccentric Google IMAP service that works with Apple's Mail application and allows unified inbox with other accounts other than Gmail, and Gmail application, which is excellent, but it is a deposit itself.
How to set up a Gmail account in the implementation of Google Gmail

You even have access to autoresponders and vacation options. If you only use Gmail to send mail, it is nevertheless the best choice. If using multiple email providers and not have problems in access them through different applications, it is also a very good choice. Unfortunately you can not put a third party application as determined in iOS, so for convenience you probably also need to set up your account in Apple Mail application (see below).
- Download the Gmail application from the App Store
- Click Open once the application has been downloaded, or you already closed the App Store icon Gmail press the Home screen.
- Enter your email address and password of your Gmail or Google account
- Press Enter
How to configure Gmail in Mail Apple
Gmail is one of the main settings of mail in Mail, the application built into Apple iOS. - Open Settings from the Home screen
- Push Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Press Add Account
- Press Gmail
- Enter your name, email Gmail, password and a description (such as Gmail, or Personal, and then can identify)
- Select which services you want to leave synchronized: Mail, Calendar, or Notes (probably want to select all)
- Click Save
How to configure the synchronization of contacts in Gmail with CardDAV
To set up synchronization of contacts, repeat the same procedure, with a slight change in the configuration.
- Tap Add Account ...
- Click Other at the end
- Press Add Account CardAV
- Enter google.com and server
- Enter your e-Google / Gmail as your username
- Enter your password Google / Gmail and password
- Enter a description. For example, Gmail contacts or Google contacts
- Click Next top right
And that's it, your contacts will now be synchronized with everything else.
Setting the 2-step verification for Gmail
If you are a vulnerable target and you're worried about the security of your Gmail account, you can also set up and use with 2-step verification in Gmail for your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. For most people this is probably more trouble than help, but is available for those who really need it.
