  • Update to iTunes 7.5 or later. You can also perform an update in iTunes: - Mac: Choose iTunes> Check for updates. - Windows: Choose Help> Check for updates.
  • If you experience this issue when updating an iPhone on a Mac, follow the instructions below: - Go to ~ / Library / iTunes / iPhone Software Updates. In the Finder you can choose Go> Go to Folder. Type or paste the path name above and click OK. - Delete all files in the iPhone Software Updates directory. - Try to restore the iPhone again.

 

In Windows, these files are located in a hidden folder. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you select Tools> Folder Options, click View and then select "Show hidden files and folders". 

  •  To resolve this error, follow the steps in  this article. Also refer to the steps in "Restore using a new user account" above for the location of the .ipsw files.
  • If you experience this issue when updating an iPhone on Windows Vista, follow the instructions below: - Choose Start> Computer> Local disk and enter the following path: C: / users / [yourusername] / AppData / Roaming / Apple Computer / iTunes / iPhone Software Updates - Delete all files in the iPhone Software Updates directory. - Try to restore the iPhone again.
  • If you experience this issue when updating an iPhone on Windows XP, follow the instructions below: - Choose Start> Run, and type C: / documents and settings / [yourusername] / Application Data / Apple Computer / iTunes / iPhone Software Updates - Delete all files in the iPhone Software Updates directory. - Try to restore the iPhone again.
