How to Find Out a Remote IP

Internet Protocol (IP) are unique addresses that every computer on the Internet. The IP address can be with the "ping" command in the Windows command prompt. The ping command uses the name of the domain or the local computer on your network. The ping command takes the name, uses the Domain Name Server (DNS) to where the IP address and sends it to you, so you can determine the IP address of a remote computer. Instructions

Click the Windows "Start" and select "Run". Type "cmd" is displayed in the text box and press the "OK" button. This will start the Windows command prompt.

Enter "ping" at the command prompt, and then press the "Enter" key. Replace "" with the name of the remote computer. This sends sent back to the command prompt window a small package in the domain and the IP address and answer.
