iTunes will automatically start the synchronization when connecting the iPod. This may mean that the items you do not want synchronized can synchronize the iPod. If you forgot to turn off the automatic synchronization or forgot items that you do not want to sync, you can cancel a synchronization process after you connect iPod. One or two files can be synchronized to the device, but not all of them are.
