I am running Chrome on a linux desktop with slow internet performance. I tried Google dns and Opendns, but no difference. I discovered that when not downloading, Chrome Connectivity Diagnosis always shows a good network connection, but when downloading I get "Web requests to Google took too long" and "DNS resolution took too long"

I have tried everything seen on Google, but no joy. I can't find any reference to the downloading situation.
